Residents are the driving force shaping the social, cultural and intellectual life of Applewood through committees, resident government, interest groups, volunteer activities and independent pursuits. Many Applewood residents continue to teach or engage in life-long learning through the renowned Five-College consortium of Amherst College, Smith College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College and the University of Massachsuetts.
Many Applewood apartments offer marvelous views of the Mount Holyoke Range or the nearby apple orchards of Atkins Farms. Leisure time can be spent hiking nearby trails, exploring the vibrant city-life of Northampton, Holyoke, and Springfield, or visitng the historic villages nearby.
