New Year’s Eve At Applewood

The Applewood residents kicked out 2015 with a bang. The evening began with a scrumptious dinner in the Dining Room from 5 – 7 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. games began in and around the Meeting Room on the first floor. They participated in nerf basketball, nerf bowling, using the hallway as a lane, ping pong in the craft room and two Nintendo Wii set ups in the meeting room. Several residents tried bowling in the hallway but weren’t all that successful. They tried their hand at Wii golf, baseball, go kart racing and lawn darts, which they found quite difficult because the eye hand coordination required, is a bit beyond this crowd; so they switched to Wii bowling. This game was attractive to them because several people can play, much like in the local bowling alley and it’s easy to get a respectable score and they could challenge each other. At 9:30 p.m. the meeting room was reconfigured to show the movie which was “My Cousin Vinny”, a delightful comedy which everyone enjoyed thoroughly. You could hear laughter throughout the first floor area. After the movie, champagne and hors d’oeuvres were served in the Tavern, getting ready for the “Ball Drop” in New York City. At midnight, they all toasted the New Year, 2016 and kicked off Applewood’s 25th Anniversary Celebration.   Read more...
