Applewood Art Gallery Opening Reception

On Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 3-5 pm, there will be an opening reception of watercolor and pastel paintings by Amherst resident, Artemis T. Romell, at Applewood. Artemis’ paintings include landscapes, seascapes, flowers, snowscapes, house portraits and children’s portraits. Her paintings have been in National, New England and local juried Exhibits and have won many awards, including “Best of the Show” for her watercolor “The Marshes of Barnstable.”

She is a member of the National Academic Artists’ Association, The Deerfield Valley Art Association, the Tobacco Valley Art Association of Connecticut, The Agawam Community Art Association, the Chatham Art Center at Cape Cod, and an Associate Member of the New England Watercolor Society of Boston.

She has studied with many prominent Art Teachers, including: John Phelps of the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts, Paul Leveille and Nicholas Phakos of Holyoke, Jack Flynn at Bay Path University in Longmeadow, Professors Richard Yarde and Bill Patterson of University of MA, Amherst, Paul George of Rockport, Danuta Munnich of London and Michiko Erwin of Boston.

In addition, Artemis is an Alto soloist and choral singer with The Springfield Symphony Chorus, DaCamera Singers of Amherst, Commonwealth Opera, and Hampshire Choral Society of Northampton. She is a life member of the Tuesday Morning Music Club of Springfield and a member of the St. Luke Greek Choir in East Longmeadow. She resides at Upper Orchard, in South Amherst with her husband Michael and they enjoy their large family.
