Holyoke- On November 2, six independent living apartment residents at Loomis House were honored for being good neighbors. Good Neighbor nominations are made by residents who observe thoughtful acts and kindness. From caring for gardens to helping with grocery shopping or providing companionship, the honorees make Loomis House a welcoming community. Those recently honored were Lorraine Gorham, Kay Monahan, Joe McNerney, Mary Lenarcen, Millie Suchecki and Anne Lmoine.
Since Lorraine Gorham moved into Loomis House last year, Lorraine has joined the LARA Executive Council as the chairwoman of the Well Life Committee and has assisted marketing with education and tours.
Kay Monahan was nominated for her beautiful garden that everyone enjoyed looking at all summer long. Kay also plays the harmonica beautifully. We are looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday with her on Valentine’s Day of 2017.
Joe McNerney was nominated for helping a fellow neighbor with their groceries. He is always willing to lend a helping hand and always does it with a smile. His peers say that his wonderful sense of humor and quick wit makes for a fun trip to the grocery store every week.
Mary Lenarcen was nominated by her neighbors for always being willing to lend an ear and words of encouragement, especially for others to try new things and off campus outings. Her positive outlook is always appreciated.
Millie Suchecki was nominated by her peers for always being willing to lend a hand. Millie can regularly be seen getting mail for others, assisting with chores and transportation. Millie is always good natured and welcoming to residents who move to Loomis House.
When Anne Lemoine realized that a resident was leaving a long trip, Anne rushed to her apartment to get her water for her journey. The resident was very touched by Anne’s kindness. Anne always has a kind word for her peers and it is appreciated.
