Farmer's Market at Applewood

The Loomis Communities is proud to be a member of CISA (Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture) whose mission is to “ link farmers and communities to strengthen agriculture and enhance the economy, rural character, environmental quality, and social well-being of western Massachusetts“. As a member, we have made a commitment to buy local produce to be used in the meals we provide for our residents.
On Monday, August 25th Applewood hosted a farmer's market, featuring the fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers of Sunset Farm of Amherst, MA. Owners Bill and Connie Gillen have been growing fresh produce on their 10-acre farm since the early 1970's. They grow and sell over 100 different crops.
The residents and staff of Applewood enjoyed the opportunity to meet Connie and purchase tomatoes, fresh basil, eggplant, flowers and a multitude of other delicacies.
