The Loomis Communities is pleased to announce that it has been awarded two five-year accreditations from CARF-CCAC.

One is a five-year accreditation as a Person-Centered Long Term Care Community, demonstrating excellence in skilled nursing home care. Person-centered care fosters a culture that embraces autonomy, diversity and resident choice. This accreditation program is new, and the Nursing Center at Loomis House is only the second in the country to receive this honor.

The second is a five-year re-accreditation of the three continuing care retirement communities that comprise the Loomis organization: Loomis House in Holyoke, Loomis Village in South Hadley, and Applewood in Amherst. Loomis has been accredited since 1996, and is one of only 5 accredited continuing care retirement community organizations in Massachusetts.

An organization receiving accreditation has voluntarily put itself through a rigorous process and demonstrated to a survey team its conformance to over 1,100 standards and conditions of excellence in governance, leadership, program and service delivery, and financial stability. CARF-CCAC is a nonprofit accreditation system that touches more than 5.1 million people who are served in a wide range of human service organizations.

The Loomis Communities is a non-profit organization founded in 1902. Its three communities in the Pioneer Valley provide independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care to over 550 older adults, and are staffed with more than 400 employees.
