Twenty years ago, Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing opened its doors to older adults. That promising beginning was the result of a vision shared by leaders from Baystate Health and Springfield College who were intent on building a first-of-its-kind retirement community in Springfield. They assembled a group of leaders who planned and built a community that uniquely hosts independent living, assisted living and a skilled nursing center all under the same roof on a wooded lakeside campus. Urban Birding at Loomis Village

On Thursday, October 30, 1:00 pm, journalist Greg Saulmon will give a talk on Urban Birding at Loomis Village. The talk will be illustrated with his own beautiful photographs. As a resident of downtown Holyoke, Saulmon has discovered over 50 birds that inhabit the city. A lifelong resident of the Pioneer Valley, Saulmon has worked for The Republican since 2006. An avid birder, he is the creator of " The Birds Downtown," a blog about urban birding. The talk is free and open to the public. Read more...
Loomis Communities Supporting the Alzheimer’s Association

Amherst, Holyoke, South Hadley and Springfield - Loomis Communities recently held a car wash at Applewood in Amherst to raise funds in support of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The car wash was organized by the Applewood wait-staff, largely high school and college students, raised $200 toward the organizational goal of $11,000. Read more...
