The Citizen Advisory Board of the Holyoke/Chicopee Area Department of Developmental Services recently recognized four Loomis Communities employees, Lisa Velazquez, Maribel Molina, Norman Grandbois and Barry Waite for “Rewarding Resilient Relationships.” The award honors individuals who have developed and sustained relationships that support and improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
According to David Scruggs, CEO of The Loomis Communities, "We are proud that their abilities are being recognized by such an important organization in our community. The compassion and commitment of our employees is the foundation of who we are and the basis of how we support everyone in our communities. ”
Barry, Norman and Maribel were instrumental in helping Lisa develop the skills needed for her work. Waite played a key part in hiring her and providing an environment of inclusion for Lisa and others with intellectual and developmental disabilities; Norman helped support Lisa in fulfilling her work responsibilities; and Maribel helped Lisa acclimate to her new work environment.
