Amherst – On Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 3:30 P.M. – 5 P.M., Applewood, One Spencer Drive, Amherst will hold an opening reception for
a photography exhibit by Applewood resident Judith Ruderman. The opening is free and open to the public.
I am Judith Ruderman, a city girl for the first
25 years of my life. My family lived within walking distance of Prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and the Brooklyn Museum. In the early days,
my parents would take my sister and me on bi-weekly trips throughout the city, to the beaches, and to upstate New York to encourage our curiosity.
As residents of Long Island, my husband and I joined the Syosset Camera Club to expand our abilities as photographers and meet more people with similar interests. While members of the club we went on weekly trips, we were involved with friendly photo judging, and formed many strong friendships.
Throughout my travels, I gathered images from all over the world. Notable favorites include Mexico, Bali, Route of the Mayans, and New Zealand. We took thousands of photos on our trips, most of which were left behind, in my move to Applewood in June, 2013, so what you see today is only a fraction of the photos I've taken in my lifetime; but many are my favorites and show a variety of places and subjects.
You will see the many things I found beautiful and unusual throughout my travels and at home in New York. I hope you enjoy this exhibit as much as I liked seeing and photographing these images.
