Amherst, Holyoke, South Hadley and Springfield - Loomis Communities recently held a car wash at Applewood in Amherst to raise funds in support of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The car wash was organized by the Applewood wait-staff, largely high school and college students, raised $200 toward the organizational goal of $11,000.
In addition to holding a car wash, staff and residents across the four Loomis Communities campuses are holding gift-basket raffles, dress down days, paint-social-art nights on August 18 and 25, a wine tasting on September 5, selling candy, blueberry muffins, and the Loomis team t-shirt. In addition, residents and staff who plan to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be sponsored by friends and families.The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is organized by the Alzheimer’s Association. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Alzheimer’s disease affects one in nine people over the age 65.
