Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing honored those who served in the military on Veterans Day. Resident Frank Fischetti and Administrator Craig Johnson offered remarks and resident Eric Bascom said a prayer. All sang “America the Beautiful” and resident veterans in the room were asked to stand and one who had received the Purple Heart was saluted.
Applewood honored those who served in the military on Veterans Day. The flag was raised at a short gathering and Resident Shirley Appy, read “The Things That Make a Soldier Great” by Edgar A. Guest. Veteran resident and staff members displayed their armed services memorabilia. Staff member, Bryan Sansouci, brought his uniform and metals from Desert Storm. Most of the photos, telegrams, medals, and newspaper clippings dated back to World War II. Resident, Fred Irving, who had been imprisoned as a P.O.W., brought a piece of barbed wire from the prison camp and the German issued spoon that he used to escape!
