This past week, residents and team members gathered in the new village green for celebrations of Holi, a Hindu festival celebrated as the Festival of Colours, Love, and Spring.
The festival marks signifies the triumph of good over evil, as it commemorates the victory of Vishnu as Narasimha Narayana over Hiranyakashipu It originated and is predominantly celebrated in the Indian Subcontinent but has also spread to other regions of Asia and parts of the Western world through the Indian diaspora.
Holi also signifies the welcoming of spring, and the hope for a successful spring harvest. Even though we await more snow here in New England, the recent warmer days has us hoping for a quick spring arrival.
While Holi celebrations can contains huge parades with colored powder being thrown from balconies and streets; the celebrations at Loomis Village are more of a bright colored dressing and colorful fire. A wonderful celebration never the less!
