On Wednesday June 15th, residents of Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing boarded a coach bus for an exclusive tour of Watershops Pond with members of Mayor Sarno’s office. Watershops pond, also known as Lake Massasoit, is the body of water that gives our Springfield campus its namesake. The lake has been drained for several years as the city and state worked to repair the dam that was severely damaged in the tornadoes that swept through the city in 2011.
The tour was kicked off by a visit from Mayor Sarno, who boarded the bus to send residents off while giving some insight into the refilling of the lake, and answering a few questions. He was followed by Springfield Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood. Superintendent Clapprood presented a superintendents coin to two residents of Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing.
We cannot thank Mayor Sarno and Superintendent Clapprood enough for stopping by, and for all the members of the Mayor’s office for going on the tour with residents and explaining all of the work that has gone into repairing the dam and refilling the lake!
